Not everything needs to go to the landfill. If you have furniture, appliances, clothing, or household goods in good condition, Scrap-It! will sort, transport, and donate them to local Long Island charities and nonprofits — and provide a donation receipt so you can claim the tax deduction.
When we clear out a home, office, or estate, our first priority is identifying items that can be given a second life. Furniture in good condition, working appliances, clothing, books, kitchenware, and other household goods are sorted and transported to our charity and nonprofit partners across Long Island and NYC.
Our donation partners include furniture banks, thrift organizations, homeless shelters, churches, and community nonprofits. We do not guarantee placement with a specific organization but ensure all donated items go to legitimate charitable use.
For items we transport for donation, we can provide a written record of what was donated for your tax records. Consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of donated items.
Items we commonly donate: sofas and upholstered furniture (clean and undamaged), beds and mattresses (no stains or damage), dressers and case goods, dining sets, kitchen appliances (working), kitchenware and dishware, books and media, clothing and accessories, children's toys and equipment, and small electronics (working).
